The Birchaven rehabilitation department uses a multidisciplinary team approach that includes therapy, nursing, social work, and dietary services to establish and facilitate a plan of care for each patient.
Based on your individual plan, services provided for 30 minutes to three hours a day.
Outpatient Rehabilitation
Physical Therapy The purpose of physical therapy is to improve movement and strength. The therapist establishes a treatment plan to help the patient increase his or her mobility status and overall independence level.
Occupational Therapy Occupational Therapy addresses an individual's ability to perform activities of daily living, like self-care and home management skills to increase independence.
Speech Therapy Speech Therapy helps improve the ability of a person to communicate or to minimize the risk of injury caused by swallowing disorders.
Rehabilitation for:
Stroke The NDT certified therapist team at Birchaven takes a special interest in stroke rehabilitation to return the patient to the highest functioning level.
Joint Replacement & Fractures
General Disability Rehabilitation for patients who have become weakened due to medical conditions, such as pneumonia, cardiac problems, or cancer.
Special Community Groups
Parkinson's Exercise Group Meets for 12 week sessions for exercise in order to maintain or improve joint range of motion, flexibility, mobility, and safety.
